xander zhou, born in 1982, established xander zhou studio in beijing after studying fashion design in the netherlands. in his designs, xander zhou likes to explore the boundaries between form and function, as well as the unique qualities of the different fabrics he uses. he reconstructs classical forms by providing them with new contexts, occasionally blurring gender stereotypes in the process. xander zhou's collections, though ever evolving, have often been inspired by youth subcultures, combining simple elegance with streetwise attitude. through his designs and creative collaborations, the name xander zhou has become synonymous with youth culture in china and beyond. as a representative and figurehead of this culture, his followers are china's cool youths. together they form a powerful alliance that can further shape and advance asian youth culture, the dna of which runs strongly through xander zhou's work.
